The Department for Communities and Local Government consultation on a possible change to planning law is due to end on the 7 August 2009. Of the three options in the consultation, Option 2, a change to the Use Classes Order, would mean that conversion from family home to HMO/shared house would require planning permission, and hence be the best way of controlling the spread and density of HMOs in Nottingham.
Support for this change is vital. The easiest way you can do it is to write to the Department of Communities and Local Government setting out your experiences and your views.
The Nottingham Action Group were actively involved in the evidence gathering exercise leading to the ECOTEC report.
