This meeting was attended by a number of representatives from Nottingham, including the Executive Member with special responsibility for student issues, several City Council officers and the University of Nottingham’s Off Campus Student Manager. Two Nottingham MPs whose constituencies include some of the areas with the highest concentrations of HMOs also participated. The meeting presented an opportunity to make contact with MPs representing constituencies in other parts of the country similarly affected by HMO-related issues, as well as with the Minister and other officials. One of the suggestions made to the NAG representative was that it would be useful to see the formation of a national ward councillors’ lobby similar to the National HMO Lobby. Following discussions with the Executive Member, he and Council officers are in the process of inviting councillors from across the country to Nottingham in February, 2007 with the aim of setting up a national ward councillors group.
